Classical Highlights for December 2024

Our last evaluations of 2024 coated the same old number of music, and some issues did stand out. One was Invoice & Associates, a celebration of William Christie’s eightieth birthday, for which he’s joined by a number of of his college students. One other was the start of a cycle of Shostakovich’s full string quartets by Cuarteto Casals (pictured), in anticipation of the fiftieth anniversary of the composer’s loss of life in 2025. Lastly, one thing that appears becoming for the tip of 1 yr and the start of the subsequent: Donnacha Dennehy’s Land of Winter, describing the seasons in Eire.
